Gary Christenson - Head Golf Professional

Gary joined the SVGCC in December 2015. With over 20 years experience in the golf business, Gary brings to the Club a great deal of knowledge in all aspects of Pro Shop operations. He is a well respected teacher, retail operator and a fine player.  Gary is a past Head Professional at both the Stony Plain Golf Course, The Northern Bear Golf Club and a past Pro -  Manager of the Westlock Golf Club. He is truly passionate about golf and growing the game!

Jacob Cartier - Associate Golf Professional

Jacob is one of the rare people that actually grew up in Edmonton. Attended high school at Archbishop O'Leary, attended the University of Alberta Bachelor of Fine Arts program and also completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Concordia University.  He started hitting the golf ball around his grandparents yard at the age of 5 and found a love and passion for the game.  Jacob played as a junior at the Fort in View Golf Club till he was 19. At this time, the Pro decided to offer Jacob his first job in the golf industry.  Jacob turned professional in 2000 working at both the Fort in View and the Royal Mayfair Golf Clubs, and joining the Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club in 2014.  Jacob is an accomplished teaching professional who has had success with beginners, low handicappers and professional players.

Cody Hancock - Associate Golf Professional 

Born and raised in St. Albert, Cody swung his first golf club at the age of two and has never looked back. Following the path of his passion, Cody attended MacEwan University and played on the MacEwan Griffin’s men’s team for 3 seasons. After graduating and receiving his post-diploma certificate in Professional Golf Management, he joined the PGA of Canada, turned professional in 2013 and achieved his Class A status in 2017. Cody spent 7 years at Cardiff Golf Club before joining our team in 2018 as an Associate Golf Professional and our Junior Coordinator. In addition to his commitment to growing junior golf, Cody enjoys helping golfers of all skill levels improve their game. Whether as a player or teacher, Cody believes respect, patience, dedication and a little humour are integral to the learning process and to success.
